Well done to the 19 riders who had a crack at Ditchling. It is a pretty hard climb to race up so chapeau to us all.

Tom jones put in a very strong ride with 6 mins dead with Rory taking the second step with a cracking 5:54. However, the honours this month go to Keith Henderson with an excellent 5:49.  The winner of the stage in the Tour of Sussex did this segment in 5:27 and 437 watts

Well done to Wendy who yet again makes the selection and remains the sole rider in the women’s GC. Wendy gets extra kudos for her ride title.

I will revert on prizes.

General Classification

Great to see that no-onbe was dropped fro the remaining peloton in July with all 13 riders weighing in.

The strong rides by Rory and Keith have given them a whopping 1 minute time bonus each and open up a significant gap at the top of GC.  The battle for places 6-9 is currently very close.

August Segment – The Super Six

August brings a special treat and probably the hardest segment in our neighbourhood.   – The Super Six

The Supersix

This is a monster, taking in 6 climbs of descending toughness as the ride goes on.  We have Keith Henderson to thank for this beauty as it is his segment.  It also carries some significant meaning for him this month and I know he will be going hard for the KOM.  This is currently held by wheeler, Matt Chipping, with a 1:20:41.

GC Time bonuses are on offer as follows:

  • KOM – 2 min
  • Top 3 – 1 min
  • Top 10 – 45s
  • Top 20 – 30s

Safety advice: There is a lot of descending in between brutal climbing so do not take risks, especially going down Yorks. Remember, this is only a fun competition.  You will not make up lots of time on these descents so save your effort for going up.  You will need it.

Point of Order: There will undoubtably be some GPS errors on this segment – worry not. We will take a time, even if Strava does not show the segment.

Obvious mistakes: It is easy to miss the right hand turn when you are descending Hubbards. It is also easy to get it wrong at the top around Ide Hill so check the route but again, if you go astray, just email me the time.

Prizes

We will follow up with Prizes shortly.

Good luck everyone..
