Strava GC: September Results and Octobers Segment
September Results: The Long Hilly TT Course
Tough segment this, plagued by temporary traffic lights and poor weather. Well done to Tom Jones who takes another win, pipping Rory and Keith who round out the podium.
Another solid effort from Wendy sees her take the women’s honours.
I apologise in advance for any errors but I think I have captured all relevant times and bonifications. Holla if there are any errors.

Well done to Rory who looks to have an unassailable lead in the GC. Shocking news from this stage is the withdrawal by the Mower who was attacked by a bear when attempting the segment. Rest assured, he is on the road to recovery. This leaves 12 hardy Unhinged cyclists still in the bunch as we come to the closing stages. Just the last 3 months and the overall GC are shown.
The handicap comp goes to Christian with a well-deseved effort.
October Segment – Groombridge Hill
October takes us up a local icon – Groombridge Hill. It is well known to the Unhinged Cyclist who went up and down it a good 105 times, this time last year. You only need to do it once.
It is a technical climb and getting the pacing right is key. At the time of writing (halfway through the month), The KOM has been obliterated by Tom Jones and Hurricane Barnabus (or whatever it was called). Can anyone better this? Catherine Tarry already holds the QOM but it is about time she shaves off a bit more time methinks.
GC Time bonuses are on offer as follows:
Safety advice: Don’t take risks at the roundabout in the run up to the hill.
We have lost momentum on the prize front. You are riding for honour and glory.
